Commemoration in Poland on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the concentration camps Ravensbrück, Sachsenhausen and Dachau

05. May 2020

On April 30, 2020 commemorative events were held in Krakow and Gorzów Wielkopolski. Members of the associations "Family of female prisoners of the German concentration camp Ravensbrück" (Polish: Rodzina Więźniarek Niemieckiego Obozu Koncentracyjnego Ravensbrück) and "Ne Cedat Academia" laid flowers on the memorial plaque under the so-called "Oak of Freedom" in front of the Collegium Novum of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. This plaque commemorates the crimes committed against the Polish population during the German occupation. A mass was then held for the Polish victims of the three concentration camps.
In Gorzów Wielkopolski a memorial event was held at the cemetery at ul. Warszawska. There 16 inmates of the Ravensbrück concentration camp are buried.
