Congratulations to Marie-Jo Chombart de Lauwe on her 100th birthday!

Today, 31 May 2023, we congratulate Marie-Jo Wilborts-Chombart de Lauwe on her 100th birthday.
At the age of 17, she joined the French resistance against the German occupiers and their collaborators, was arrested on 22 May 1942 and deported to Ravensbrück. In the concentration camp, she mainly did forced labour for the Siemens & Halske company and in the so-called Kinderzimmer. After liberation, she testified against the former camp commandant Fritz Suhren and continued her medical studies. Today she is still active in various human rights organisations. She is an active member of the League for Human Rights, a presidium member of the Organisation of Deportees and Internees, Resistance Fighters and Patriots (FNDIRP), since 1996 president of the Fondation pour la Mémoire de la Déportation and co-president of the Amicale de Ravensbrück.
