Laying of the stumbling stone for Ravensbrück survivor Luise B. in Krefeld
11. November 2025
Luise B. was born on 26 January 1920 in Lintfort. She attended elementary school and then moved to Krefeld. There she officially worked as a waitress. In April 1942, she was arrested in Krefeld and taken to the Ravensbrück concentration camp. A year later, the SS selected her for the camp brothel at Buchenwald concentration camp. She was 23 years old at the time. For 18 months, the SS forced her to work as a prostitute in the camp brothel, then she was released from concentration camp custody. Nothing is known about Luise B.'s subsequent fate.
In connection with the laying of the Stolperstein, Dr Robert Sommer will give a lecture on the biography of Luise B. on 16 December 2025 at 7 p.m. (Location: VHS Krefeld | Neukirchen-Vluyn, Von-der-Leyen-Platz 2, 47798 Krefeld).
The Stolperstein for Luise B. is the first to commemorate a female forced labourer in a concentration camp brothel. It will be laid on 17 December 2025 at 1 p.m. The Fabritianum Gymnasium will be responsible for the content (location: Dreikönigenstraße 9, 47798 Krefeld).
The event will conclude with a panel discussion on 18 December 2025 at 6 p.m. entitled Das Große Schweigen (The Great Silence). The difficult memory of the victims of forced sexual labour in concentration camp brothels (location: Gymnasium Fabritianum, Fabritiusstr. 15A, 47829 Krefeld).
