Theater Project: Some Things I Know, but I Don’t Remember
A production by the Theater Youth Club "Ensemble Angestrahlt"
Premiere: June 12, 2025, 6 PM | Theater Strahl am Ostkreuz
In collaboration with the Ravensbrück Memorial Museum and Theater Strahl, a powerful theater project is being created that explores memory, trauma, and resistance. Based on the graphic novel Emmie Arbel. The Color of Memory by Barbara Yelin, the Ensemble Angestrahlt develops a production about the life of Emmie Arbel, who survived the Ravensbrück concentration camp as a child.
Under the direction of Sharon On and with theater education guidance from Julie Tiepermann, the young performers engage deeply with the question of how painful pasts continue to resonate in the present. During their creative process, they collaborate with international artists such as performer and rapper Dan Wolf and conduct historical research at the Ravensbrück Memorial Museum to deepen their understanding of the former women's concentration camp.
Memorial meets theatre: a special offer for school classes
Together with the Strahl Theatre, the Ravensbrück Memorial invites school classes to experience history in a special way: Combine a visit to the theatre production ‘Some things I know, but I don't remember’ with an educational tour of the grounds of the former Ravensbrück women's concentration camp.
During the tour, educational advisor Zazie Rothfuchs provides insights into the history of the site and also discusses the life story of Emmie Arbel - a survivor of the camp whose experiences are the focus of the theatre production.
The combination of a visit to the memorial site and a theatre performance enables a multi-layered and in-depth examination of the history of the Ravensbrück women's concentration camp.
