Thematic Tour on the Day of Remembrance for the Genocide of Sinti and Roma

02. August 2026 – 13:00 - 16:00 Uhr

On 2 August 2026, we mark the 82nd anniversary of the liquidation of camp section BIIe at the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp, where Sinti and Roma were held under inhumane conditions. During the night of 2 to 3 August 1944, the SS murdered approximately 4,300 people who remained, among them many women, children, and elderly people.

Since 2015, 2 August has been the European Day of Remembrance for the Genocide of Sinti and Roma, commemorating the systematically planned and carried out mass murder of this population group by the National Socialists.

On the occasion of this day of remembrance, the Ravensbrück Memorial Museum warmly invites you to a thematic tour dedicated to the history of Sinti and Roma in the Ravensbrück women's concentration camp. Please note: The tour will be conducted in German without translation. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to gather in silent commemoration of the victims at the Schwedtsee.

The meeting point is in front of the BIZ. Admission is free; no registration is required.
